Focus on Financial Stability

The whole community benefits when more working individuals and families are able to stop walking a financial tightrope and get on solid ground. That’s why we focus on lasting solutions that go beyond charity, because financially stable people are more likely to have access to quality health care, provide a good education for their children, and contribute to their local economies.

With United Way engaged in nearly 1,800 communities across more than 40 countries and territories worldwide, we are bringing millions of people together to solve community problems.

We invite people to give, to advocate, or to volunteer — only by working together can we build a strong community where people are able to earn a livable wage, and manage their assets and debt.  To improve financial stability, United Way focuses on:

  • Finding and maintaining safe, affordable housing
  • Skills and education to obtain jobs that provide a livable wage
